Shortly after this photo started to spread online, people everywhere began donating money, allowing John to pay for the surgery and medication Shoep needed to live more comfortably. John used the remaining money to start a foundation to help other pets in pain.

Artista nascuda al Japó, resident als Estats Units, a Nova York, realitza treballs utilitzant la ombra que projecten els objectes per formar figures que res tenen a veure amb el seu origen.
Crea siluetes molt realistes a partir de la manipulació de la llum sobre objectes comuns, disposats en superfícies com parets o taules.
Des de 1993 ha acumulat diverses exposicions, tant col·lectives com individuals, que ens deixen mostra del gran talent que té.
Veient la seva feina es deuria pensar si realment el que s’insinua és la realitat o només son ombres amb ganes de jugar amb el nostre cervell.
El treball que realitza amb els claus i els fils, donant com a resultat retrats hiperrealistes, és senzillament impressionant.
